Bell's popular Sweep Helmet is a mainstay of the pro peloton and XC circuit thanks to its blend of comfort, durability and weight savings.

The in-mold construction and internal reinforcement protect against impacts, while 20 massive over-sized vents promote breathability and shave grams.

Bell's proven Twin Axis Gear™ (TAG) retention device adjusts to the up/down position of the occipital lobe (the bump on the back of the head) as well as circumferentially. Cam-lock levers provide ear adjustment at the strap, and Thermodynamic X-Static™ padding helps keep the helmet anti microbial and quick drying.

The Bell Sweep includes the VPV™ adjustable visor and visor plugs. Available in various colors. Actual weight: 325 grams (Size Medium).

Sizing:

  • Small: 20" - 21.75" (51cm - 55cm)
  • Medium: 21.75" - 23.25" (55cm - 59cm)
  • Large: 23.25" - 24.75" (59cm - 63cm)

I'm very happy with the Sweep.

I ride an ElliptiGO which is a cross between a regular bicycle and an elliptical at the gym. The reason I mention that is because there is no seat on the ElliptiGO and my head is level when I ride, unlike on a road bike. I've been trying to find a helmet that has better ventilation than my inexpensive Specialized, and fits better than my Garneau (Medium-too big), but has comfortable straps. The first helmet I bought was the Giro Pneumo in a medium, Highlight Yellow. I loved the great visibility of the color for road riding but I just hated the scratchy, thin straps on it. I was really disappointed in the straps. I went to four local shops and tried on helmets before ordering the Bell Sweep in small and medium. The medium fits perfectly and the straps are thicker than the Giro and much more comfortable. After my 40 mile ElliptiGO ride with an altitude gain of 2,900 ft, in 90 degree weather, my hair wasn't wet like it would have been in my Specialized helmet. I'm very happy with the Bell Sweep. I chose the White/Black/Green Esher in medium and the Plumb Sparkler in Small. The medium Giro Pneumo and small Bell Sweep have been returned.

I want to mention that until I wrote this review and looked back at the BikeTiresDirect page on the Bell Sweep, I didn't realize that my Bell Sweep Helmet in White/Black/Green Esher - Medium, is not the same colors as the one on the page. Mine is mostly flat black and white, with a tad of kelly green, quite unlike the one on the website with the green front half. I don't care, though.

Hi,

Thanks for your review! And thanks for pointing out the inaccurate colors. Manufacturers sometimes make minor changes to colorways that we miss; we'll double check on this one and be sure to update our photos to reflect our actual inventory.

Thanks,
Stacia

It's my second Bell Sweep Helmet

I find this helmet very comfortable, easy to adjust and well ventilated, while not too costly. For me it's a great deal.

My favorite helmet

The Bell fits an oval shaped head perfectly. Think the overall looks is fabulous.

I still don't like the strap snaps, they don't lie flush with the side of your face. Can't figure out why. Wish Bell would address that.

The sweatband are a bit weak for wear...could be a bit for sturdy.

Looks and feels great

My only negative is that it is a little tough to get a ponytail through the back

Nice fit, light and comfortable!

Sharp looking helmet and very comfortable. I love the fit and how lightweight it is. I rode my first double century this year and had no more than normal neck fatigue. I'm very glad I chose this helmet, I have quite a few miles on it and zero complaints. If you're in the market for a helmet, I recommend you check into this one.

always good, this one just a little worse

I've been buying the Bell Sweep for many iterations of helmets now, probably for 6 years. On my 3rd one. One substantial head banging crash on the road trashed my helmet, saved my noggin, and I have high praise for the helmet. I was a little disappointed with my last purchase however, they've really cheapened up on the manufacturing process of the thing. It's a little nit-picky, but It used to have a better finnish, better labels, nicer hardware. Now there's pock marks in the foam, the graphics are less detailed, and the stickers are peeling off already. Maybe they're about to retire it.

Fits Like a Glove, Light Enough to go almost Un-noticed

I have been waiting for a reason to pull the trigger on a new lid. A fellow commuter cyclist I work with noticed that my old helmet was circa 2001 - way overdue for replacement. I am a bit brand-loyal to Bell since I have always owned the dirt bike versions. I blind-ordered one that on paper fit my head. Wow! Awesome fit! The visor is stiff enough to withstand the tension of my Gore rain cover when added. I am very pleased.
