Description
Ridley has taken the Noah where no road bike has gone before. Already a world class performer, super sprinter Robbie McEwen called the '08 model the fastest bike he has ever ridden, the '09 Noah employs a split blade R-Flow technology in the fork and seat-stays to create the most aerodynamic bike in the peloton.
R-Flow technology is the result of painstaking work in the wind tunnel. Ridley's engineers found that the slotted design of the forks and seatstays dramatically reduced turbulence around the wheels, which are one of the largest sources of drag. Traditional solid forks and stays can deflect air away from the wheel, but not without incurring drag of their own. R-Flow technology allows for deflection away from the wheel, while incurring minimal surface drag.
While discovering parts Ridley could alter to maximize aerodynamics, they also found some they couldn't, due to structural limitations. To diminish the aerodynamic penalty of these areas, Ridley developed R-Surface Paint. Yes, aerodynamic paint. In testing, Ridley's engineers found that textured paint decreased drag in the areas where structural changes could not be made. If that doesn't convince you that every watt of energy put through a Noah is converted into forward motion, then with all due respect, we are out of ideas!
The Noah also features an integrated seat mast which is cut to accommodate your size and topped with a saddle bracket that allows for 18mm of adjustment. Ridley assures us that the integrated mast increases lateral rigidity of the seat tube by 50% while absence of a separate seat post ensures that the overall weight of the Noah is competitive with many manufacturers lightest frames. At 1200 grams (size medium), the Noah delivers unrivaled stiffness, durability and aerodynamics at a surprisingly light weight.
