I put a pair of these on an old Giant Mtn Bike that I had stored for years. I wanted to see if I still had enough interest in riding before I popped the $$'s for a new Trek. Most of my riding is 5050% loose gravelsand and poorly paved trails. We have those horrible thorns everywhere so flats are a concern too. I found them to work especially well in the loose stuff and the knobs are deep enough to keep the thorns from penetrating the casing. On pavement they are noisy no surprise but very predictable on corners and fast stops. The compound is pretty soft which helps the grip on pavement, but I suspect that extended pavment use would wear them out pretty fast. They will hold a lot of mud if you get into it but here in the desert S. Nevada that's not a big concern, otherwise they stay clean and sharp. Generally I think they're a great alternative to the non-directional knobby's I see used as OEM on many of the new MTB. BTW I did order myself a new Trek, but I'll keep the old bike around for a loaner and for the grand kids to thrash!
