Nice race tire, but not the best choice for a performance tire

Nice traction and good road feel, but they do seem to wear a little quickly compared to the competition. Performance seems pretty similar to the Continental GP4000, but the Conti lasts longer and seems to be a bit more flat resistant. On the other hand, the Courchevel is a bit cheaper.

No problems here

Still no problems with these tires with over 1000 miles. Rode over glass several times today expecting to have to fix a flat. Have not had one flat yet! Corners confidently. The only thing is the outer layer seems to gash easliy. Was going to order another pair but after reading the other reviews, maybe I've just been lucky.

Grippy but very, very short road life.

The wear on these tires after very little use is unbelievable. I'm at 500 miles max and they are practically falling a part. They are certainly grippy, but once you see the cracks forming all over the tire profile you get a little nervous about testing that cornering ability. I've been through two sets now and won't try a third.

If you need the stickiest rubber for crit racing and don't mind shelling out for new tires once a month go for it, but if your riding or racing schedule is more like us mere mortals I'd recommend another tire.

Avoid at all costs

OK, Just so you know where I am coming from here. I have used this tire for 2 years on three different bikes road, TT, trainer. Why would I stick with a tire I hate for 2 years? Well, Maxxis sponsored our team so it was a team loyalty thing. The tire just does not hold up. I have had no fewer than 4 suffer catastrophic thread separation, one after only 50 miles no exaggeration. For the ones that don't fail, 1500 miles tops. I ride on normal roads the kind each and every one of us rides on a daily basis. They are an accident waiting to happen. I even sent an email to Maxxis asking about it and got zero response, way to stand behind the product guys. Go for the Conti 4000s, I did and I can't be happier about it.
