Description Fulcrum's Racing 5 Evolution wheels have taken such a leap forward that if it were not for the name Racing 5, which links them to their predecessors, it would be hard to think of it as a simple evolution of the same model. One of the biggest improvements shows at the scale. The Racing 5 EVO is 90 grams less than the older version.
The hubs are completely new: over-sized and equipped with flanges for bladed hammer-head spokes. Smoothness is ensured by sealed high-quality bearings which have a new single-piece body consolidating the freewheel body and pawl carrier into a single component, saving valuable weight. There are fewer spokes, increasing aerodynamics and differentiating thickness to more evenly distribute the wheel's weight. 20 spokes make up the front wheel and 24 the rear. Radial lacing in the front with Fulcrum's patented 2:1 Two-to-One Spoke Ratio for the rear. Also unchanged is Fulcrum's patented Dynamic Balance which, thanks to two oversized spokes, balances the concentration of the rim joint material during wheel rotation.

Fast, Light, Beautiful
Switched to these wheels in April from a Mavic set that had seen better days. My area is very hilly and both the climbs and descents are great on these. They feel stiffer than the Mavics, but still comfortable riding. Did I say how great they look as well?
