Beautiful seatpost. But that is all. The micro-adjusting single fixing bolt is very convenient. However, 0.5 mm knurls on the cradle that interlace with those on the top of the post are made of metal that is too soft. If you're out riding, hit a bump, and hear a crack from your seatpost, both your ride and the seatpost are finished. The crack means the knurls on the seat clamp have been shaved off, and no amount of torque will suffice to keep the saddle in place. It cannot be salvaged. Here are 4 pieces of advice you will thank me for
1. Buy a Thompson seatpost. Light, infallible, serviceable.
2. If you have a Record seatpost, and it hasn't failed, it will. Take it apart and apply thread lock to both the fixing bolt and the 0.5mm knurls. Tighten the bolt to the maximum recommended 22 N-m.
3. If you must ignore 1 and 2, carry an extra Record seatpost in your jersey pocket.
4. Don't bother trying to get warranty service or replacement from Campagnolo. They will just give you a vaguely insulting reply that you're too fat or that you don't know how to attach a seatpost. Under no circumstances will they stand behind the product.
