I love stroopwafels, and when I'm in the Netherlands, I can eat lots of them, even the ones with wheat. Being gluten-sensitive, I don't have significant problems with wheat products in Europe, just in North America where Hard Winter Wheat is mainly grown for consumption. These are a product of Canada, according to the label, so I stay away from the ones with wheat. No problem, the GF ones are amazingly tasty, especially the coconut ones. The salted chocolate flavor is really good, and I just ordered the wild berries to try them. I have no problems with my health when eating these. Another BIG plus to these is they are made up of 95% organic ingredients. If you want to REALLY enjoy them, heat them up on top of your coffee cup just like the Dutch do. If on a ride, keep them close to your body so they warm up to get the same great taste.
I've been a long-time fan of GU Caramel Macchiato energy gel and never fail to keep a pack or two in my top-tube bike bag or the backpack for those moments when my energy dips a little. I've tried a number of other energy gel brands, but I always keep coming back to GU. They're portable, easy to open, and just the right amount of sweetness.
I especially appreciate the cost-savings I find at Bike Tires Direct, plus shipping is free! Can't beat that. I'll continue to order from Bike Tires Direct for all of my cycling/hiking needs. Thanks!
On a long ride I like having these in my jersey pocket . I never would have thought these could provide energy to finish the ride / make the goal . I've not had one I didn't like ; I was apprehensive of salted watermelon but it is one of my favorites . The only thing I don't like is sticky fingers that cause sticky brake levers and shifters , but I'm willing to deal with it . It's hard to let sticky fingers get the better of good energy and good bicycle rides .
