Halogen
Your first option is lights with halogen bulbs. Halogen lights were standard for many years; halogen bulbs are those ones with the tiny filament strung between two towers. The bulbs are cheap and durable, and they produce a lot of light, but since they produce so much heat in addition to light, they're not incredibly efficient and will chew through batteries faster than other options.
LED
Many advancements have been made over the past couple years in regards to lightweight and durable lights. LED Lights paired with Lithion Ion batteries now set the standard in lightweight, bright lights with long lasting rechargeable battery packs. DiNotte Lighting 200L-LI-4C Light combines all the latest light technology in an affordable package.
LED technology is at the core of these advances. LEDs don't produce nearly as much heat, are even more durable and less expensive than halogen bulbs. They are not quite as bright as halogen bulbs, but with the right lenses or by clustering several LEDs together, they can produce a good amount of light. HID
Several years ago, HID (High Intensity Discharge) lights appeared to be the next big trend in bicycle light systems. They are the brightest lights available, however they are also expensive and lack durability. The advances in LED systems have relegated HID lights somewhat obsolete, as they now burn longer, almost as bright and are much more durable ,not too mention they cost less. While HID systems are still available, we strongly suggest considering an LED system.
